From Shock to Awe is a feature-length documentary that follows the journeys of U.S. combat veterans abandoning pharmaceutical drugs to seek relief from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through the controversial, mind-expanding world of cannabis, ayahuasca, and MDMA. Filmed over three years, it provides an intimate look at how these substances, mainly ayahuasca, can be used successfully to heal our morally wounded soldiers—and by extension, their families. These human stories raise fundamental questions about war, the pharmaceutical industry, and the U.S. legal system.

Filmed over a period of three years by Luc Cote, director and editor, and Janine Sagert, Content Producer, From Shock to Awe enlisted a large community of supporters to make it to the finish line: the veterans themselves (those in the film and many who were not), the experts we consulted, the generous financial contributors, those providing technical support and a multitude of unseen forces and friends. With deep gratitude we salute you all.
